Our Vision
The Butterfield Preservation Foundation’s Mission is to preserve, promote and support the development of a community wide park system that provides for recreation and outdoor education opportunities for all residents, as well as to offer diversified programs, educational opportunities and activities that provide personal enjoyment, contribute to a sense of self fulfillment, and enhance the quality of life.
Our Finances
The Butterfield Preservation Foundation is organized as a Federally Recognized 501(c) (3) Not for Profit Corporation and a Charitable Agency “In Good Standing” In the State of Illinois.
The Foundation meets regularly and has their Financial Reports and Transactions approved by the Board of Directors. Their Budget is developed annually and is reported to the State and Federal governments through the statutorily established processes. The Foundation will be completing its first Annual Independent Comprehensive Financial Reporting process in August of 2018.
The Foundation will be hosting several Fund Raising events throughout the year and will be working with the Butterfield Park District to create awareness in the community of the need for funds as well as the projects that are undertaken. Land acquisition and development are a high priority for the Foundation at this time. The Foundation is actively engaged in securing the property north of the recently acquired corner property (56-53), formally known as the “KinderCare” or “Malcomson” property. While this is a major challenge for such a young Foundation, we remain very optimistic and are aggressively seeking funding for this acquisition and follow-up funding for development.
